- Visit Faro's Sé Cathedral in the 'old town': After looking around the Cathedral, go up the steps in the tower for a fantastic panoramic view .

- In the Largo de Sé, apart from the Cathedral, is the Episcopal palace (16th/17th century) and the Episcopal Seminary (18th/19th century) next to it. Access is restricted but they are interesting buildings and you get a really good view of the typically portuguese, 'tesouro' (pyramid shape) roofs from the tower in the Cathedral.

- Estoi Palace: Built in neo-baroque and neo-rococo style in the early 19th century by a distinguished family of the Algarvean nobility.Much of the exterior is covered in decorative, floral tiling and at the entrance to the palace there is a small temple containing a waterfall and a statue of the Three Graces on a shell, a copy of the work by the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova (1757-1822). Unfortunately Estoi Palace is not currently open to the public as a pousada hotel is being built in the grounds, but the fantastic outside entrance gate can still be admired. It is to be found at the end of the square in the centre of Estoi near the main church.

- Forum Algarve: If you fancy a bit of shopping, then do visit the shopping mall. (It is on the main road into Faro from the airport side of town. ) There are restaurants and cafés to recover at between forays into the shops! It's open until midnight during the summer and 11pm the rest of the year.
